Fertilizer demand still considerably under the customary level:
Potash production cut-back extended to first six months of 2009; short-time working necessary at several sites

The continuing diminished demand for potash fertilizers necessitates the introduction of temporary short-time working at several sites as of January 2009. K+S will apply for short-time working for the first half of 2009 as a precaution. In the second half of the year, the demand for potash products should again pick up perceptibly.

MCC increases equity holding in K+S to 15 percent

Yesterday, the Bank of N.T. Butterfield and Son Limited, Bermuda, announced that via MCC Holding Limited, Cyprus, including OJSC MCC “EuroChem”, Moscow, it has increased its stake in K+S Aktiengesellschaft, Kassel, from 10.43 % to 15.001 %.
